Vast Space

Vast Space (USA, founded 2021) is pursuing the ambitious goal of building artificial-gravity space stations for long-term human habitation in orbit. The company plans to construct spinning space station modules that generate artificial gravity through rotation, addressing health issues caused by microgravity. In 2023, Vast announced plans to launch a first space station module (called Haven-1) by 2025, which would initially operate independently and later connect to a larger rotating station. The startup has been rapidly developing the necessary technologies and even acquired spaceflight company Launcher to aid in building the station and its accompanying spacecraft. Vast’s vision is to enable permanent, comfortable human presence in space by mitigating one of the biggest challenges of life in orbit – the lack of gravity.
