About
Nanoracks (USA, founded 2009) is known for enabling commercial use of the International Space Station (ISS) by providing hardware like experiment racks, small satellite deployers, and airlock modules. The company has helped launch hundreds of CubeSats from the ISS via its deployer systems and offers standardized platforms for researchers to run experiments in microgravity. In 2020, Nanoracks launched its Bishop Airlock module to the ISS – the first commercially funded airlock, used to deploy satellites and accommodate external payloads. Beyond the ISS, Nanoracks is involved in planning free-flying commercial space stations (e.g., the Starlab project in partnership with Lockheed Martin). By lowering barriers to entry for using the ISS and future stations, Nanoracks has been a key player in growing the commercial space ecosystem in low Earth orbit.
