Deimos Imaging (Spain, founded 2006) operates Earth observation satellites and provides geospatial imagery services. The company’s Deimos-1 satellite, launched in 2009, was one of the first privately-owned satellites in Europe and provides wide-area multispectral images useful for agriculture and environmental monitoring. Deimos-2, a higher-resolution satellite, launched in 2014, offers sub-meter resolution imagery for more detailed analysis (urban planning, disaster response, etc.). Deimos Imaging was acquired by UrtheCast and later became part of a joint venture, integrating into a larger constellation network. The company’s data feeds into various applications and is an example of Europe’s presence in the commercial Earth observation market, complementing larger players by focusing on specific niches and regional needs.
